Hotel description and useful information for travellers

Cleanliness

Mixed feedback: some guests report rooms were clean, but multiple mentions of stains, odd smells, dirty/aged carpet and comments that places could be cleaner.

Service

Consistently praised across reviews: friendly, helpful and attentive staff; several guests explicitly highlight excellent service.

Location

Very strong: repeatedly described as perfect/excellent and right by the old town/wall with great views; occasional parking challenges mentioned.

Room Quality

Rooms often described as spacious, well-decorated and comfortable; some negatives noted (very soft beds, broken toilet seat, limited soundproofing).

Amenities

Standout features like the extensive book collection, themed decor and on-site restaurant; breakfast and hotel character are praised (some isolated complaints about flies and a storage-room smell).

Value for Money

Mixed perceptions: many guests felt the stay exceeded expectations, but a few reviewers questioned the 4-star designation or noted outdated elements, lowering perceived value for some.

Unique Literary Hotel Experience

Located next to the Óbidos Castle, The Literary Man Óbidos Hotel offers a unique stay in the world's biggest literary hotel. Experience the charm of a former convent converted into a literary haven.
