Marina Grande is Sorrento’s traditional fishing quarter, characterised by small boats, waterfront restaurants, colourful buildings and views across the Gulf of Naples. A small public beach and chargeable bathing platforms are close to the hotel. Piazza Tasso, Corso Italia and the historic centre are approximately one to 1.3 kilometres away, but the route includes an uphill section and steps. Local buses connect Marina Grande with central Sorrento. Ferries to Capri, Naples and other coastal destinations generally depart from Marina Piccola rather than Marina Grande. Naples International Airport is approximately 55 kilometres away by road.

• Villa Comunale – approximately 950 metres: The clifftop gardens provide broad views across the Gulf of Naples and access to the Sorrento lift.
• Piazza Tasso – approximately 1.3 kilometres: Sorrento’s principal square is surrounded by cafés, shops and routes into the historic centre.
• Marina Piccola – approximately 1.5 kilometres: The main passenger port provides ferry connections to Capri, Naples and seasonal coastal destinations.
• Baths of Queen Giovanna – approximately 3 kilometres: This natural swimming area lies beside the archaeological remains of a Roman maritime villa.

• Expect an uphill walk when travelling from Marina Grande to Piazza Tasso; the local bus is useful in hot weather.
• Ferries normally depart from Marina Piccola, so allow time to cross town before a scheduled sailing.
• Marina Grande has limited road access and parking, making public transport or a pre-arranged transfer more practical.
• The nearby public beach is small, while private bathing platforms may charge for loungers and other facilities.
• Reserve popular waterfront restaurants and Capri ferries in advance during July, August and major holiday periods.

May, June, September and early October generally combine warm weather with fewer visitors than the busiest summer weeks. July and August bring the hottest conditions, strongest demand and busiest ferries, beaches and central streets. April and late October can suit sightseeing, although pool and boat services may operate seasonally. Winter is quieter and cooler, with reduced ferry schedules and some waterfront businesses closing or limiting their opening hours.
