Acquarello Swiss Quality Hotel

The hotel is in Lugano’s pedestrian centre, at the foot of San Lorenzo Cathedral and directly beside the funicular’s city station. This makes arrival by train especially simple: the funicular links the station with Lugano Città in only a few minutes, while walking from the station takes around 10 minutes downhill. Lake Lugano, Piazza della Riforma, Via Nassa, restaurants, shops and cafés are close by. Drivers should note that the hotel is in a pedestrian zone and uses nearby public parking rather than private on-site spaces.

• Lugano Funicular Station – beside the hotel; useful for quick connections between the old town and Lugano railway station.
• San Lorenzo Cathedral – a short uphill walk away; known for its historic façade and position above the city centre.
• Piazza della Riforma – around 0.2 km away; Lugano’s central square for cafés, events and city orientation.
• Lake Lugano lakefront – about 3 minutes on foot; ideal for promenade walks, boat views and lakeside cafés.
• Via Nassa – within a short walk; Lugano’s main shopping street with arcades, boutiques and cafés.
• Parco Ciani – about 7 minutes on foot; a lakeside park with gardens, trees and walking paths.
• LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura – about 10 minutes on foot; the city’s main arts, theatre and concert venue.
• Monte Brè and Monte San Salvatore – reachable by public transport and funicular routes; both offer panoramic lake and mountain views.

• Use the funicular if arriving by train with luggage; it stops directly beside the hotel’s old-town location.
• If driving, use Autosilo Motta public car park, as the hotel is in a pedestrian area and has no private parking.
• Ask reception about the fixed-price Motta car park exit ticket if you plan to leave the car parked during the stay.
• Choose a comfort or quieter room category if funicular-side noise is a concern.
• Plan lakefront walks early or late in the day in summer, when the promenade and central streets can be busier.

Spring and early autumn are especially pleasant for Lugano’s lakefront, old town and mountain viewpoints, with mild weather and fewer peak-summer crowds. Summer is lively for outdoor dining, boat trips and evening walks, but central areas can be busier. Winter is quieter and suits short city breaks, cultural visits and rail-based trips around Ticino.
